Fernando José Torres Sanz was born in 1984 in Madrid, Spain. He’s a professional footballer currently signed to the Liverpool football club in England. Before moving to this club he played for Atlético Madrid in Spain between 2001 and 2007. He scored 82 goals in 214 matches for Atlético Madrid. In 2003 he made has debut for the Spanish national football team. He’s played for Spain in the UEFA Euro 2004, 2006 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2008 tournaments. He scored the winning goal for Spain against Germany in the UEFA Euro 2008 final. In 2009 he played for his country in the FIFA Confederations Cup tournament in South Africa. He scored his second hat-trick for Spain after 17 minutes into the match against New Zealand in the Confederations Cup. He clinched the record for the fastest hat trick ever scored by a Spanish player. Fernando Torres is definately one of the players to watch in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He’s definately talented and has proved to be one of the best players for his current club, Liverpool. He’s been named Premier League player of the month in England a few times since his move there in 2007. Yesterday Fernando Torres scored 1 of the 2 goals against rivals Manchester United at Anfield in Liverpool helping to break the biggest losing streak in 22 years for the club. So far he’s scored 23 goals for Spain in 70 matches. He’s also scored 47 goals in 66 matches for Liverpool. Truly worthy of being featured as one of the Famous Footballers on this blog.
